Three big NDP Tri-Cities names are not going local when it comes to the provincial party's leadership race.
Supporters of John Horgan, who's running for leadership of the BC NDP, announced today Coquitlam-Maillardville MLA Selina Robinson, former Port Moody-Coquitlam MLA Joe Trasolini, former interim BC NDP leader Dawn Black and New Westminster-Coquitlam and Port Moody MP Fin Donnelly endorsed Horgan at an economy and affordability roundtable with Tri-Cities community leaders.
They are not, thus, endorsing their NDP neighbour, Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth, who announced his candidacy for the party leadership earlier this year.
Robinson, a former Coquitlam city councillor, was elected in the 2013 provincial election and is opposition critic for local government and sports while Trasolini, former mayor of Port Moody, was briefly and NDP MLA. And Fin Donnelly, a former Coquitlam councillor elected MP in 2009, is federal deputy critic for fisheries and oceans and for infrastructure.
Farnworth recently held his campaign kickoff in PoCo and gained as supporters Saanich South MLA Lana Popham and Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson.
He previously lost an NDP leadership bid to Adrian Dix by a tight margin.
