Council was told that Winskill’s synthetic turf field’s existing drainage system continues to perform as required and does not need to be replaced.

Winskill Park will be getting a new artificial turf field.

On Monday, Delta council approved awarding a $578,000 contract to replace the 14-year-old turf field at the Tsawwassen park.

The total project cost will be $616,000 once other expenses have been added.

The replacement will take place this year.

Mayor George Harvie said the city had set up reserve funds for new synthetic turf fields several years ago, a reserve fund that was created as part of a Delta property tax increase and one that will fund replacements projects.

The artificial turf fields at Mackie and Holly parks have also been replaced in recent years.

The city also has synthetic turf fields at Dugald Morrison and Delsom parks.
