A sub-aquatic water line linking North Vancouver with Belcarra is complete and approximately 300 homeowners and one million visitors to Belcarra Regional Park will be the beneficiaries.
Last Friday, a grand opening ceremony was held to mark the opening of the $8.7 million water line that links Belcarra with the Metro Vancouver Water District (GVWD). The project included constructing an underwater marine pipeline consisting of two 200 mm diameter water mains under Indian Arm to connect to the GVWD supply in the District of North Vancouver.
It was paid for with $4 million of project funding from the Canada-British Columbia Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund with the remaining paid for with a levy paid by Belcarra property owners.
The pipes will bring potable drinking water to 274 homes, several of which were already hooked up at the end of October, according to a village spokesperson.
