School District 43 will be entering the Twitterverse on Friday, using social media to find out what the community thinks of the "Learning Lands and Neighbourhoods" review of four school district properties.
On Dec. 6 from 3 to 4 p.m., a Twitter town hall meeting will be held with board chair Melissa Hyndes fielding questions and Tri-City News education reporter Diane Strandberg moderating the chat.
Interested members of the community are invited to share their views using the hashtag #sd43lln. Questions can be sent in advance to @tricitynews on Twitter and people can then follow the dialogue in real time or refer back to the hashtag #sd43lln if they missed it.
"People have already shared their feedback at the in-person meetings and the online survey," Hyndes said in a press release. "Based on public feedback, we are now broadening the dialogue to Twitter to give more people the opportunity to have a say."
The four properties under consideration are: the closed Coronation Park elementary school, Moody elementary, a portion of the Parkland elementary school site and a portion of Victoria Park.
According to Hyndes, the district wants to get feedback and ideas from parents, students, residents and elected officials to find out what would make the best use of these properties.
