The Coquitlam RCMP have identified two Tri-City neighbourhoods that have seen an increase in property crime in the last two weeks.
According to the detachment's CompStat numbers, the area bound by North and Clarke Road in the west, Robinson Street in the east and Foster Avenue in the south has seen an uptick in home break-ins. The suspects are mainly targeting houses and basement suites and access is usually gained through a window.
The neighbourhood has also seen an increase in thefts from vehicles, particularly overnight between Thursday and Saturday.
Port Coquitlam has also seen a rise in vehicle break-ins in the neighbourhood between McCallister, Pitt River Road, Shaughnessy Street and Mary HIll Road.
The CompStat data found that most incidents were occurring overnight between Sunday and Wednesday. Break-ins to vacant residences were also found to be occurring on Sunday mornings.
