Two key hits from Coquitlam's Ava Bromley lift softball team to nationals gold

She won the Canadian under-15 championship with the Cloverdale Fury two weeks after claiming silver at the BC Summer Games.

The Cloverdale Fury won the 2022 Canadian national under-15 softball championships last weekend.

And they had a Tri-Cities player that made a big impact in the final to reach the top of the podium in Saskatoon, Sask.

Coquitlam's Ava Bromley recorded two RBIs off of two hits in the gold-medal match on Sunday (Aug. 7) to lift the Fury to a 11-4 mercy win over the Surrey Storm — two of five B.C. squads that qualified for nationals.

The 15-year-old multi-positional athlete scored two runs while on offense. She was in left field while on defense for the the top-ranked team out of the province.

The Fury went undefeated at the national tournament with a record of 9-0.

It's yet another medal added to Bromley's trophy case from what has been an impressive season.

Before heading to the prairies, she earned a silver medal in Prince George last month with the Fraser River zone girls' softball team at the 2022 BC Summer Games.

As well, Bromley and the Fury won their second consecutive B.C. under-15 title — beating the same Surrey Storm club, but rallied to a 5-4 comeback victory to reclaim the banner.

The team finished with a 68-8 regular season record leading up to the mid-July provincial tournament.
