Two more subdivisions eyed for Pitt River Road in Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam city council is set to review the bids in the new year.

Two more bids to subdivide single-family home properties on Pitt River Road will go before Port Coquitlam city council in the new year.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the city’s committee of council unanimously recommended the two-lot rezonings for 1568 and 1688 Pitt River Rd.

The proposals come as several homeowners along the southside arterial have applied to the municipality this year to split their properties.

For 1568 Pitt River Rd., CitiWest Consulting plans to demolish the existing home and cut four trees along the southern line; five trees will remain.

And for the bid at 1688 Pitt River Rd., applicants Chimani Palani and Heydar Kamalifar also plan to raze the home for the subdivision that — if approved by council following a public hearing — would see six out of nine trees chopped down.

Both proposals would be subject to offsite works and service requirements, wrote Bruce Irvine, Port Coquitlam’s director of planning and development, in his report to council.

Car dealership changes

Meanwhile, the committee also unanimously greenlighted a development permit on Tuesday for Tri-City Mitsubishi to expand its car dealership building at 2060 Oxford Conn. by 2,249 sq. ft.

In addition, the company wants to update the facade materials, reduce the roofline and rejig the parking lot layout.

The dealership is located on the southern side of Lougheed Highway, next to the CP Rail yard, and close to Shaughnessy Station mall.

Coun. Steve Darling praised the new look, saying the current building "looks very dated."
