Two people seriously injured in Coquitlam stabbing

A man and a woman were taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, and a 25-year-old man is facing charges.

Charges have been laid after multiple stabbings in Coquitlam on Saturday, Dec. 17.

A 25-year-old man faces assault charges related to a double stabbing in Coquitlam over the weekend.

RCMP were called to two stabbings in a home near Johnson Street and Meadowvista Place shortly after 1:15 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 17).

According to a news release today (Dec. 18), police attended along with BC Ambulance Services and the Coquitlam Fire Department.

They located a man and woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victims were taken to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries, and where they continue to recover.

Soleiman Adeli-Najafi was found near the scene and arrested by responding officers.

Spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins explained the Coquitlam resident was charged today with two counts of aggravated assault and remains in police custody.

Mounties believe this was an isolated incident as all parties knew each other.
