Port Moody Police confirmed two staff members thought to be in danger after Wednesday's shooting in Burnaby were kept safe; threat subsided later in the evening.

Two Port Moody staff members were among several city employees thought to be in danger in connection with a fatal shooting in Burnaby on Wednesday.

The victim, a longtime city of Vancouver employee, was believed to have worked with the two PoMo workers at one time, prompting the warning from Vancouver Police Department.

Port Moody Police Const. Luke van Winkel confirmed that steps were taken to safeguard the local employees but, later Wednesday evening, the threat had subsided and they were no longer in danger. As a precaution, the PMPD had a marked unit at the city works yard Thursday morning until other employees could be made aware there were no safety issues.

There has been no information released about a possible suspect, other than he may be a disgruntled former Vancouver employee, and no arrests have been made.
