Tri-City residents and organizations are working to help the victims of quake-struck Nepal by organizing fundraising drives for the Red Cross.
In Coquitlam, SUCCESS, a social service agency for newcomers, is collecting donations for the Red Cross Nepal Relief fund through its Tri-City Service Centre, 2058 - 1163 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the telephone number is 604-468-6000.
And in Port Coquitlam, the St. Catherine's Anglican and Trinity United churches in Port Coquitlam, 2211 Prairie Ave., will host a non-denominational candlelight service for the Nepalese earthquake victims this Sunday, May 3 at 7 p.m. Cash donations will be accepted. SUCCESS and the Canadian Red Cross entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in July 2010 to strengthen community support and fundraising efforts of the Red Cross in response to international disasters.
