Gatensbury fatal

A three-vehicle collision Sunday evening in Coquitlam has left a senior dead and another person injured.

Coquitlam RCMP responded to the Como Lake Avenue and Gatensbury Street intersection shortly before 7 p.m. and found a white SUV had rolled over and landed upside down on a fence.

The driver and passenger of that vehicle were extricated with the assistance of Coquitlam Fire Rescue crews; a 72-year-old Coquitlam woman was deceased at the scene and a man was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic was closed in all directions for several hours and Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating the collision.

Police have not released any information about the possible cause of the collision.

More to come.
