A Coquitlam woman has died in a jet ski crash on Osoyoos Lake.

The B.C. Coroner Service has confirmed that Taylor Anne Jessop, 24, was with a companion on separate rented jet skis when they collided shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5 on the north side of the lake.

Osoyoos RCMP said several boat operators heard someone on the lake yelling for help and that there were two jet skis in the water with no one on them. The boaters found a 24-year-old New Westminster man conscious and a 24-year-old woman who was unconscious.

Rescuers immediately began first aid on Jessop on one of the boats while the driver headed to shore; once there, others joined in the effort to save the woman.

She was transported to be airlifted to hospital but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead before the air transport.

Osoyoos RCMP and the BC Coroner Service are investigating the incident to determine whether any criminal charges will be laid but were unable to say how the collision occurred or what might have happened before then.
