Coquitlam RCMP have re-opened Mariner Way in both directions after the northbound lanes were closed while police dealt with a distraut man who had barricaded himself inside a home.

Police were called to the home in the 3100-block just after 10 a.m. Monday morning after reports that a man was threatening to harm himself. They had blocked off the northbound portion at Daybreak Avenue. Officers from the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, as well as Port Moody Police, attended as a negotiator spoke with the man over the phone.

There did not appear to be anyone else inside the home.

"We're in the process of negotiating with the male to make sure he doesn't have any weapons or anything else to harm himself with and to have him exit the residence peacefully," said Const. Jamie Phillipson.

Police reported the matter had been resolved shortly after 3 p.m.
