Two dramatic videos showing a smash-and-grab jewelry heist at the Hudson's Bay store in Langley in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 7 have been posted on the Coquitlam RCMP website in the hopes of getting more information about the suspects and a similar break-in that took place in Coquitlam two days later.
The security footage shows a black pick-up truck, likely a newer model Toyota, backing into the east doors of the Willowbrook Mall Bay store with a 2 x 8 board and then two men in hoodies and pants smashing the display cases and removing jewelry.
As much as $200,000 in goods was stolen in the Langley incident, and a similar incident, believed to be carried out by the same men, netted the criminals more than $100,000 in jewelry, according to Cpl. Jamie Chung.
In the Coquitlam incident, that took place approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 9 and was also filmed, the thieves used a very similar method to break into the store, except they bashed through a window instead.
Once inside, they also smashed the display cases and took the jewelry.
Both Langley and Coquitlam RCMP are cooperating in the investigation. In addition to releasing the video, the police have a description of the suspects, and are on the lookout for a black pick-up truck they believe might have damage to the rear.
The first suspect is described as a male approximately 5'10 tall with medium build, wearing a grey hoodie and sweat pants, a pair of gloves, and white shoes.
The second suspect is described as a male, approximately 5'10 tall with medium build, wearing a mask, a black hoodie with a beige jacket, and Jeans.
