Two more Tri-City candidates have put their names forward to run in the provincial election.

Last week, BC Conservative Ryan Hague announced he will vie for the Port Coquitlam seat currently held by NDP MLA Mike Farnworth.

A manager of an electrical contracting firm, Hague said said he has always wanted to run for elected office.

"I can't stand politicians who say one thing but do another," he said in an email, "and think that I can and will do much better then our current elected officials given the chance."

It is the first time Hague, who has lived in the riding for two years, has run for office. He can be reached by email at [email protected] or followed on Twitter @RyanWHague and on Facebook at Ryan.W.Hague.

Meanwhile, in Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, Ron Peters will fly the Green Party flag in the riding held by BC Liberal MLA Douglas Horne.

A Coquitlam resident for three years and retired, Peters is an administrative volunteer at the Green Party office. He previously worked for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority for 30 years, is a First Nation (Tsimshian, Hartley Bay band) and has a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in business administration.

Asked why he is running for the first time, Peters stated: "The time is right for a change in direction for British Columbia politics and for strong representation by the Green Party in particular. The Green Party represents a more balanced, less divisive, less ideologically driven approach than we are accustomed to in B.C."

To contact Peters, call 604-464-4487 or email [email protected].

The provincial vote is on May 14.
