Three people are injured - one of them seriously - after a three-car collision occurred at Kingsway Avenue and Mary Hill Bypass in Port Coquitlam on Thursday afternoon.

Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung told The Tri-City News that the police are still early in their investigation. He said a red Buick, a brown KIA and a blue Dodge Caliber were all involved in the collision, which sent three people to hospital.

"We don't know how it happened yet or which vehicle was going in which direction," he said. "Right now we are on the scene investigating."

Police arrived at 12:50 p.m. and the bypass was shut down for a short period of time, according to the city of Port Coquitlam. However, by 2:30 p.m. the accident was cleared and traffic was able to move through the area safely.
