A dramatic increase in vehicle break-ins has the Port Moody Police Department warning the public to protect their property.
More than 30 reported attempted and completed thefts have occurred so far this month and police said that the incidents tend to occur in the early morning hours between 2 and 5 a.m.
The latest break-ins took place on Sept. 19, when five vehicles on Alderside Road and another vehicle on Roe Drive had their windows smashed and items stolen.
Police said that the thief was caught on video and officers are working to identify the suspect.
Most of the thefts have occurred along the St. Johns Street corridor and in the Glenayre and College Park area.
Police are asking the public to do their part to protect themselves and are advising drivers to remove all valuables from their vehicle.
Anyone who sees or hears something or someone suspicious should contact the police immediately.
