UPDATE: Delays expected as crews clear vehicle incident on Mary Hill Bypass near Port Coquitlam

It's unclear if anyone was injured or what caused the collision near Pitt River Road.

A vehicle incident has been cleared, but traffic is expected to be congested en route to Port Coquitlam this afternoon (Dec. 14).

DriveBC says major delays are in effect after a motor vehicle incident — allegedly involving a vacuum truck and a pick-up — partially closed the Mary Hill Bypass in each direction before 3 p.m.

Emergency crews attended the scene in the eastbound left lane of Highway 7B before its intersection with Pitt River Road and worked to remove debris.

It's unclear, as of this publication, if anyone was injured or what factors led to the collision.

3:35 p.m.

DriveBC says an eastbound lane has opened on the Mary Hill Bypass following a motor vehicle incident this afternoon (Dec. 14).

A vacuum truck and pick-up truck are reportedly involved in the accident near Pitt River Road west of Port Coquitlam.

Traffic remains backed up to the Lougheed Highway exit.

There also appears to be some build-up for westbound commuters with the incident serving as a visual distraction.

3:10 p.m.

A motor vehicle incident has closed a major route to Port Coquitlam.

While details remain unclear as of this publication, including if anyone was injured, the eastbound lanes of the Mary Hill Bypass (Highway 7B) are blocked before Pitt River Road.

DriveBC first reported the incident just before 3 p.m., emergency vehicles are on scene and an assessment appears to be in progress.

Traffic is backed up beyond the Highway 1 Cape Horn to the Leder Street exit.
