A Vancouver man who was digging a ditch for a sewer line in Coquitlam this week has been identified.
Today (Friday), the BC Coroners Service said Eric Lee Bird — also known as Eric Starr — died as a result of his injuries when he became trapped at a residential construction site Tuesday morning.
The 31-year-old man died at the scene when the trench collapsed; his family has been notified.
The BC Coroners Service, WorkSafeBC and Coquitlam RCMP are investigating the industrial accident.
