Operation Red Nose volunteers were busy on the first weekend of the festive season, driving home more than 140 people and their vehicles on Friday and Saturday nights.
And Chris Wilson, organizer of the initiative, said there appears to be stronger demand for the service this season than in past years.
"It was extremely busy and we could have given even more rides if we'd had a few more volunteer teams," he said. "The demand is even stronger this year, so we'll need to work a little hard to recruit more volunteers for the rest of the campaign."
Operation Red Nose volunteers are tasked with driving people who have had too much to drink and their vehicles home during the holiday season. The service is offered by donation, with proceeds going to KidSport Tri-Cities, an organization that helps connect less fortunate kids with amateur sporting opportunities.
Wilson said more volunteers are needed if demand is to be met.
