Voting was brisk this morning at the Port Moody Recreation Centre for the Port Moody-Coquitlam byelection, according to district electoral officer Julie Brassington.

Advance polling was down slightly from the 2009 general election, leading to expectations of a below-average turnout for this riding.

The Port Moody Recreation Centre is expected to be one of the busiest locations today until polls close at 8 p.m.

Watch for final results on the Tri-City News website tonight.

Candidates running in the election are Dennis Marsden, a credit union manager running for the BC Liberals, Joe Trasolini, a business owner and former mayor who is running for the BC NDP, and Christine Clarke, a community volunteer and advocate, who is running for the BC Conservatives.

The race is to replace a seat formerly held by BC Liberal MLA Iain Black who resigned to take a job with the Vancouver Board of Trade.
