Construction workers Bryan Ono and Brendan Napper of Drake Excavating put the finishing touches to the 440 steps on the Coquitlam Crunch last Friday.
The $205,000 city project was done to improve footing along the steepest stretch of the popular 2.2 km hill from Eagle Ridge to Westwood Plateau, said Coquitlam's manager of parks and facilities, Kathy Reinheimer.
The official opening for the new stairs will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at the Lansdowne Drive trail head.
The event coincides with Move for Health Day and participants are encouraged to use the Twitter or Instagram hashtag #CoquitlamMoves to post photos - or load them directly to the city's Facebook page - for a chance to win a four-month recreation One Pass.
