A suspect in the stabbing of seven people at a Vancouver apartment building last week spent time working in Port Coquitlam last year.
The attacks happened on Jan. 31 when a man went through several floors of the West End building on Barclay Street and apparently stabbed several people. Seven people were injured, six of whom were taken to hospital with significant injuries. Vancouver Police reported Monday that two are still in hospital, with one in stable condition and the other remaining in serious condition.
Jerome Bonneric, a 33-year-old Vancouver resident, is facing several assault charges after he was arrested inside the building shortly after the stabbings. According to Vancouver Police, Bonneric was visiting a friend in the building at the time of the attacks.
He was not previously known to police and investigators are still looking into what prompted the attacks.
CBC has reported that Bonneric used to live in Paris, France and has a master's degree in real estate from two French schools. He is said to have worked at a wholesale bakery in Port Coquitlam from April 2011 to last December.
