This A & W restaurant at Pinetree Village was temporarily closed as of Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.

A Coquitlam fast food restaurant is temporarily closed due to an electrical issue.

There were cones in the drive-thru and signs apologizing to customers on the doors Monday, Nov. 28 at the A & W Canada restaurant at 2991 Lougheed Hwy. in Pinetree Village.

Coquitlam fire chief Jim Ogloff confirmed that firefighters were called to the restaurant on Thursday, Nov. 24 due to smoke coming from an electrical panel.

"It was pretty minor," Ogloff said.

The sign on the door indicates the closure is temporary.

It reads:

"Dear Customrs, we are closed right now due to some electrical failures. Sorry about the inconvenience caused...Hope to see you soon."

At least one customer heading for the drive-thru left after seeing the cones when the Tri-City News visited the operation.

Meanwhile, a convenience store that was temporarily closed due to technical issues is back up and running.

Located at 1198 Lansdowne Dr., the 7-Eleven store was closed Nov. 19-20 because of "technical reasons," but re-opened on Monday, Nov. 21.
