A 50-year-old Coquitlam woman was killed on Highway 1 Thursday afternoon after she exited her vehicle on the west end of the Port Mann Bridge and was struck by a tractor trailer.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators were still working when the eastbound lanes re-opened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Several eastbound Highway 1 had been closedas police worked to figure out what had happened.
"Investigators continue to speak with witnesses who observed what can only be described as a horrific event," said Sgt. Peter Thiessen, the spokesperson for the Lower Mainland Regional Police Service.
