BC Hydro will switch 47 old, wooden power poles in Coquitlam to new ones over the next few months.
The Crown corporation said the work is part of an ongoing maintenance program that will see some 10,000 distribution poles across B.C. dug up.
The replacement of the poles - some of which are more than 40 years old and have weakened due to weather, insects and wildlife - will be done locally until the end of the summer.
The electricity won't be turned off while the poles are reset, BC Hydro said in a news release.
