It's the middle of Go By Bike Week, an annual event that encourages Metro Vancouver residents to choose greener options when commuting to work, school or elsewhere.
Port Moody police (PMPD) are reaching out to local bike owners in hopes they can take an extra step to curb property theft.
Together with the city, officers are setting up a 529 Garage pop-up in Rocky Point Park on Thursday (June 1).
The dashboard helps keep track of bicycle serial numbers and descriptions to help police when a two-wheeler goes missing or is stolen.
According to 529 Garage, communities that utilize the system have seen a 40 per cent drop in reported bike thefts.
PMPD's bike registration tomorrow is free, taking place from 12 to 2 p.m. in the south parking lot of Rocky Point Park (2800-block Murray St.).
For more information, you can visit the 529 Garage website.
Celebration station
Meanwhile, in continuing with Go By Bike Week, HUB Cycling is hosting a celebration station in Coquitlam later today (May 31).
In addition to games, prizes and giveaways, the regional non-profit is set to teach residents and commuters about the health and environment benefits of biking, and provide a maintenance check on their bikes.
Copies of the Tri-Cities cycling map, and snacks, will also be handed out to participants.
The pop-up will be at Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station from 4 to 6 p.m.
A full calendar of Go By Bike Week events can be found on HUB Cycling's website.
