Coquitlam Express forward Mateo Dixon (right) will join teammate Mirko Buttazzoni at the BC Hockey League's all-star weekend in Penticton in January 2023 after he was voted to join the festivities by fans.

Mirko Buttazzoni won't be the only representative from the Coquitlam Express at the BC Hockey League’s (BCHL) all-star weekend.

Teammate and fellow forward Mateo Dixon will also boast the black and gold as one of 10 players voted by fans to participate in the festivities early next year that are also a celebration of the league's 60th anniversary.

Dixon, a centre, has 23 points in 22 games this season. Three of his 12 goals have been game winners.

Dixon and Buttazzoni will be among 28 players — including four goalies — that will play in a special three-on-three tournament on an outdoor rink in Penticton’s downtown.

The all-star contest is scheduled to take place Jan. 21, 2023.

It was originally scheduled for last January, but had to be called off when stricter public health restrictions were put in place to deal with the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
