The Port Moody Gunners got things back on track with their first win of the division one soccer season after defeating Delta 2-1 last weekend.
The club got on the board when Santiago Vasquez buried a perfectly placed free kick from 25 yards out, before Connor Rogen headed the second goal for he game off a kick from Steve Causier.
Delta pushed hard in the second half, scoring in the 65th minute to make it 201.
But Gunners keeper Richard Causton held on in net with some outstanding saves to help his club notch the win.
Meanwhile, the Gunners premier squad suffered its first loss of the season after a 3-2 decision against Aldergrove united.
Junhyung Lee opened the scoring for the Gunners four minutes into the game and the Port Moody squad dominated for most of the first 40 minutes.
However, several missed opportunities allowed Aldergrove to get back into the game and the club was able to take a 3-1 early in the second half.
A late goal from Port Moody's Dalibor Plavsic made it 3-2 when the clock finally ran out.
RAIDERS
The Coquitlam Raiders carried the momentum from their first win of the season last week into Sunday's 32-0 win over the Langley Cowboys.
With a strong offensive line consisting of Stephen Bowers and Layeth Begg, the Raiders were able to take an early 18-0 lead with touchdowns from Cole Kashino, Jarrett Chong and a 50-yard TD run for Kaiden Parks.
Two more majors in the second half rounded out the scoring.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jaden Severy had a strong game along with Zack Kristmanson and Matthew Lew-Henriksen.
The squad will take on the Cloverdale Cougars next Sunday at Mackin Park in Coquitlam. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.
REDCAPS
The Port Moody Redcaps spent the last day of summer taking down Tsawwassen United 2-0 on a warm Sunday afternoon in under-17 gold division soccer.
Anton Pisaryk opened the scoring later in the first half, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. A late goal from Rory McKay sealed the win for Port Moody.
Kyle Winslow had a strong game on offence, while Ciaran Savage dominated in the middle of the field, allowing the Redcaps to hang on to possession for most of the match.
SFU CLAN
Port Moody's Alison McKay had 19 digs as the Simon Fraser University Clan volleyball team fell 3-0 to Western Washington Vikings on the road Saturday night.
The home team won three sets 25-22, 25-29 and 25-13, displaying composure that has helped them become ranked in the league's top 10 teams.
With the loss, the Clan fall to 7-4 overall and a 1-2 record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. SFU will continue the road trip this week, as they travel to Billings, Mont.
