The next time the Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs are awarded a man advantage, they may want to think twice about accepting the penalty.
While the B.C. Junior 'A' Lacrosse League team cruised to a 16-2 victory during Wednesday night's bout against the Burnaby Lakers, the only time the opposition was able to score was when they were short-handed.
That does not mean Coquitlam showed any signs of struggling.
The team blasted out of the gates with a power play goal from Evan Wortley, who was followed by four more from the A's before the Lakers were able to get on the board.
If there was one bright spot for Burnaby it was the play of Tyler Buchan, who scored both of the visitor's tallies - one midway through the first and the second coming in the middle frame.
But the Lakers could not slow down an Adanacs offense that had no trouble getting shots through.
Burnaby goalie Jack Woodhouse was relieved of his duties before the opening period had ended, after allowing six goals on 15 shots.
Backup net minder Xander McDonald faired only slightly better, allowing ten goals on the 40 shots he faced.
For the Adanacs, the game was an opportunity to pad some stats.
Chase McIntyre, who is second in the league in scoring, scored two goals and notched five assists, while teammate Erik Klein had a six point night, with two goals and four assists. Steven Neufeld, Andy Taylor and Matt Symes all had four point games.
Coquitlam will be back in action on Saturday when they take on the Delta Islanders at the Ladner Arena, before taking on the Victoria Shamrocks at the Coquitlam Sports and Leisure Complex on Sunday at 5 p.m.
The Port Coquitlam Saints will also be playing this weekend, taking on Delta at the Port Coqutilam Recreation Complex on Friday at 8 p.m. before receiving a visit from Nanaimo at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
