Swimming duo Alexia and Kalista Iten of Anmore posted a 71.3 to win a gold medal at the Synchro Canada's National Qualifier in Montreal last week.
The pair, who are B.C. Aquasonics swim team members, also had a top 10 finish, placing ninth in the junior team finals.
"The B.C. Aquasonics are becoming a force at the national level," said the team's head coach Susan Kemper. "I am so proud of our accomplishments this week. Our athletes brought their best to the competition and the results show it."
The Itens were not the only Tri-City swimmers to do well at the national competition.
Coquitlam swimmer Olivia Zawadiuk took home a bronze medal in the senior technical solo event and fourth place in senior free solo, qualifying for the Canadian Open Synchronized Swimming Championships in Saskatoon next month.
Meanwhile, Lani-Marie Carbonel and Cassandra Truss of Coquitlam placed seventh in the team preliminary round for their routine.
