Another victory for Vigna in jr. golf

Coquitlam golfer Kevin Vigna just keeps on winning.

Coquitlam golfer Kevin Vigna just keeps on winning.

Vigna, 15, already has a paid trip in his pocket to the Callaway Junior World Championships next month and continued his impressive run by capturing the Boys 14-16 division at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's latest stop at Surrey's Peace Portal Golf Club.

Vigna fired 74-73 (147) to also tie for low overall with Scott Robertson in the Boys 17-19 division.

"Winning on the MJT for the second time this year feels amazing," Vigna said of his weekend playing magic. "I just enjoyed myself every minute I was out on the course.

His score was good enough for a five-stroke victory in his division and he commented that by "staying patient all 36 holes, I knew I would get my fair share of chances out there. Making eagle on the first hole of my second round really was the spark."

Vigna now adds the eligible short-listed spot on MJT Team Canada to Australia to his resume.

Richmond 14-year-old Alex Chen clsoed with a 77 and could only manage second spot (75-77-152) to Vigna.

Two other Coquitlam golfers, Trevor Garafano and Steven Diack, were third (77-77-154) and fifth (83-73-156) respectively in the 14-player Boys 17-19 group.
