First place in the B.C. Jr. 'A' Lacrosse League standings is out of reach for the Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs after the club lost a close battle against the New Westminster Salmonbellies Wednesday night.
The A's jumped out to an early lead in front of the home crowd at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, when Jordan Magnuson lit up the scoreboard three seconds into the game.
However, a power play marker from New Westminster's Johnny Pearson tied things up with a pair of goals from Luke Gillespie gave the visitors a 3-1 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes.
Coquitlam's Tyler Pace scored a pair of goals in the middle frame and the club scored two more off the sticks of Evan Wortley and Jean Luc Chetner in the third.
But the Salmonbellies had an answer every step of the way, maintaining the two goal lead built up in the first for the duration of the game. The game was the A's last of the season and the club will now gear up for the playoffs.
