There will be no home-rink advantage for the Tri-City Bandits in the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association semifinal.
The Bandits will host the Nanaimo Timberman at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Game 2 of the best-of-five series at Burnaby's Bill Copeland Sports Centre due to a scheduling conflict at the PoCo Arena.
The Bandits used five third-period goals to upend the Port Moody Thunder 9-3 Sunday in the third and deciding game of their quarter-final series. Brian Gillis netted three goals and an assist for the Bandits, who also got scoring from Curtis Sim (two goals, three assists), Ryan Mosdell, Jaxon Lee, Jackson James and Brad Confrey.
Port Coquitlam scored seven times in the middle frame on their way to a 7-5 win Saturday over the Thunder, who opened the series with a 9-7 win Thursday in Port Moody.
Colton Dow had four goals and four assists to lead the Thunder attack in the series, with Joel Tickner contributing two goals and five assists over the three games. Gillis paced the Bandits with seven goals and three assists in the series, with Lee netting four goals and four assists.
