BC fights to first in field lacrosse

The victory marked the first gold medal for Team BC Field Lacrosse teams since 2008.

Team BC opened tournament play Friday by blasting Manitoba 31-0, the clobbered Alberta on Saturday by a 20-4 count.

Earlier Sunday, the left coasters handled Saskatchewan 15-6 to advance to the championship game.

The U-16 tournament all-star team selected from Team BC included goalie Stuart Smith, defence; Aaron Madaisky and Brad Hoffman, midfield; and Reece Callies and Brett Kujala on attack.

The U-19 Team BC field lacrosse team met Team Ontario in the gold medal game only to lose by a single goal for the second straight year by a score of 13-12 in the battle for the First Nations Trophy.

The U-19 tournament all-star team selected from Team BC included Danny McDermott, defence; Jessie King, midfield; and Reegan Comeault and Zachary Porter, attack.
