Coquitlam Express fans will get the first look at the Wenatchee Wild, the B.C. Hockey League’s newest team, when the club comes to the Lower Mainland for exhibition games this week.
A game between Wenatchee and Coquitlam will take place at the Burnaby Winter Club (4990 Canada Way, Burnaby) Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:11 p.m. The Wild are the 17th team to join the league and the first U.S.-based club since the Bellingham Ice Hawks, who operated between 1990 and 1995.
Express coach Barry Wolff said the game is being held in Burnaby to promote the league and encourage fans from outside of Coquitlam to support the team.
“Even though we play our regular season homes games at the Poirier Sports Complex, we want to reach out to all surrounding communities,” he said. “All should feel part of our team.”
