Brian Nicholas and Jordan Varga smacked a pair of hits apiece as the Reds shaved the Pirates 5-4 in the opener.

Dylan Patterson and Jeff Heidema shared the Reds' pitching duties, combining on a three-hitter.

In game two, Matt Trimble hurled a complete-game five-hitter as Coquitlam tripped the islanders, 3-2.
