Club Aviva gymnast Jordyn Beyer won gold at the 2014 Provincial Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Abbotsford last weekend.

Club Aviva gymnast Jordyn Beyer won gold at the 2014 Provincial Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Abbotsford last weekend.

Beyer, who was the overall winner of the 11 to 12-year-old trampoline division, also had a fifth-place finish in double mini trampoline.

"Jordyn jumps so high and her form is immaculate," said her coach, Shannon Moore. "That's why she soared above the competition. She is now eager to get back into the gym and learn some more difficulty and move up the levels for next season."

Emily Christie, 12, also from Club Aviva in Coquitlam, was second in the level 3, 13-and-under tumbling division, as well as sixth in double mini trampoline and ninth in trampoline.

Marisol Zeballos, who trains at Coquitlam's Omega Gymnastics of Coquitlam, was one of two athletes among the 69 artistic gymnasts from B.C. who have qualified to compete in the 2014 Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships. That event will take place between April 24 and 26 in Saskatoon. The gymnasts were selected to Team BC following trials held in Kamloops in March.

The Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships are hosted annually by the western provinces and territories. For many of the athletes competing at these championships, this is their first chance to compete as a member of Team BC.
