Four Coquitlam lacrosse players returned from the female national box lacrosse championships in Halifax last week with a little more in their luggage than they left with. Presumably their silver medals fit in their carry-on bags.
Andee Jackson, Breanna Hollingshead, Teagan Ng and Chelsea Philbrook were part of Team BC that finished second in the Bantam division at the finals.
The team had four wins and two losses in the tournament’s round-robin play. One of those wins was over Ontario, that team’s only defeat.
The rivals met again in the final.
After Ng opened the scoring 54 seconds into the game, Ontario roared back with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.
Neither team managed to score in that frame, and BC pulled to within a goal 4:05 into the third. Seven minutes later, Ontario restored its two goal margin.
BC scored again with less than five minutes to play but Ontario was able to seal the win with an insurance goal with four seconds left in regulation.
Team BC won the Midget title.
