Port Moody skater Brianna Delmaestro and teammate Timothy Lum took home bronze in ice dancing at the sixth stop on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit Friday in Dresden, Germany.
It was the second medal this season for the second-year couple and the sixth trip to the podium for Canadian ice dancers.
Betina Popova and Yuri Vlasenko of Russia won the gold medal with 147.31 points, Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter of the U.S. were second at 139.35 and Delmaestro and Lum followed at 130.78. The Canadians took silver at the season's second stop in Slovenia.
"There are some things we did better than the last competition," Delmaestro said. "We made some changes and those worked out really well. We set goals for this season and we've achieved some of them already."
Lum said he hopes the consistency will continue.
EXPLOSIVE TNT TAKE WIN OVER SURREY FC
The Coquitlam Metro-Ford TNT continued a five-game undefeated streak with a win over the Surrey United Divas in under-16 girls soccer last weekend.
The TNT dominated the first half, taking a 1-0 lead in the first half when Cristina Danielli's rebound off the post was buried by Julianna Bosa.
Surrey picked up the pressure in the second half but could not find the equalizer thanks in large part to the net minding of Josie Pozzolo and defensive players Kirstin Davids, Olivia Dawson, Nicole Churisnoff and Isabelle Antunes.
Coquitlam added an insurance marker with 10 minutes left in the game, when Morrin and Cooper Miller worked the ball up to Tessa Weimer.
Weimer was able to partially break away from Surrey's defenders and found the top corner to seal the game 2-0.
