The Centennial Centaurs defeated Lord Tweedmuir from Surrey, 4-2, in their opening round match of the Fraser Valley high school girls soccer championships, Monday at Coquitlam's Town Centre Park.
Avery Tulloch scored the winner for the Centaurs with just two minutes left in the match. Jessa Vance scored twice for Centennial, who trailed 1-0 at halftime. Raegan Mackenzie added an insurance goal just before full time.
Centennial plays league rival Riverside secondary school Wednesday at 3 p.m., at Riverside. The winner wil be guaranteed a spot in the provincial championships that begin May 30 at the University of British Columbia.
