The Coquitlam Chargers scored 20 unanswered points to trip up the White Rock Titans 27-6 Saturday and lock up first place in the bantam division.

Matt Shuen opened the scoring for the Chargers in the second quarter before White Rock answered to go to the half 7-6.

But the Charger defence clamped down in the second half, led by sacks from Jason Tade and Bowen Goldade and sure tackling by Matt McAloney, Devin Pal, Dayal Hayre and Liam Stewart.

Shuen found the end zone twice more in the second half with the other Coquitlam touchdown going to Darrell Gelera. Goldade and Dade Motz chewed up big chunks of yards on the ground to help the Chargers wear down the Titan defence.

The Coquitlam Wildcats came out on the losing end of a cat fight Sunday, dropping a 33-0 decision to the second-place Cloverdale Bobcats in peewee action.

The Wildcat defence kept the game within reach until a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns sealed the win for Cloverdale. KeyShaun Dorsey, Matthew Lew-Henriksen, Lucas Price, Jordan Allaire and Hussein Sabrey all turned in solid defensive efforts.

The Wildcats head to South Delta Sunday where they will open the playoffs against the Rams. The Chargers open the playoffs Sunday at 12:30 p.m. when they take on the Cloverdale Leopards at Mackin Park.
