The Coquitlam Chargers laid claim to the B.C. bantam football championship with a 35-0 win over the Richmond Raiders Saturday night.
Martin Norman opened the scoring for the Chargers who held a 7-0 halftime lead.
The Charger attack came to life in the third quarter with quarterback Lucas Gill connecting with Matt Shuen for a touchdown. Shuen scored another on the ground to pace the Chargers to a 21-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Shuen and Liam Stewart rounded out the Coquitlam scoring in the fourth quarter.
Darrel Gelera, Malvin Lee, Rylan Smaaslat and Liam Burgess led the Charger defence that kept Richmond bottled up throughout the game.
Shuen picked up MVP honours while Stewart was given the award for team spirit.
