Chargers shock Titans

The Coquitlam Chargers mauled the White Rock Titans 47-7 in bantam football action Sunday. It was the second straight win for the Chargers who used a big second-half comeback to down the Cloverdale Leopards 28-13 last week.

Quarterback Lucas Gill ran for three touchdowns, with Matt Shuen and Dade Motts also making some big runs. Liam Stewart rushed for the Chargers' final touchdown. Stewart, Dayal Hayre, Darrel Gelera and Bowen Goldade made some big tackles against the Leopards who held a 6-1 halftime lead.

The Coquitlam Wildcat defence was dominant in a 31-0 win over the Royal City Hyacks in peewee division play.

Defensive linemen Ryan Dougall and Aaron Tung had a strong game in the trenches. Bronson DePaoli, Sebastian Bernat, Zack Ryan Thomas, Jason Kyle and Nathan Massey were also standouts in the defensive effort.

Quarterback Josh Baba did a good job of spreading the ball around for the Wildcats, who got touchdowns from Isaiah John, KeyShaun Dorsey, Ethan Shuen and Thomas.

In other minor football action, the Coquitlam Tigers outlasted the North Surrey Lions 20-14. The Chilliwack Giants stopped the Coquitlam Falcons 22-7 in midget division play. The Royal City Hyacks shut out the Coquitlam Roughriders 30-0 in junior bantam play.
