Cal Poly Pomona is Simon Fraser University’s Waterloo.

For the third straight season the Broncos bucked the Clan men’s soccer team from the NCAA Div II playoffs with a 1-0 win in overtime in their second round match in Seattle on Saturday.

It was only the second loss suffered by the Clan all season, and the first time the team was held scoreless in a match.

Both of Coquitlam’s Polisi brothers, Matteo and Marcello, had scoring chances but were denied by Broncos keeper Jakob Hansen, who made five saves to earn the clean sheet.

Cal Poly’s winning goal came on their only shot on goal all night.

For the Clan, it was a disappointing and abrupt end to a season during which they climbed steadily from being ranked 20th in the opening week to the NCAA’s top-ranked team by October.
