Simon Fraser University basketball player Kristina Collins started the new year off with a flurry of scoring in a 71-56 win over the Fairbanks Nanooks in Alaska last week.
The former Riverside Rapid managed 14 points and seven rebounds in the Clan's first game of 2013 moving the team to 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
Despite the win, however, coach Bruce Langford said the team still had a lot to work on in practice this week.
"Kristina was excellent in the first half, going four for five from the three-point line, but ultimately we did not take care of the ball well enough tonight," he said. "We did not have enough team offence and became complacent in the second half, where Alaska was able to get back into the game."
Collins was able to repeat her performance in a game Saturday night against the Anchorage Seawolves that saw her score 15 points, including nine from beyond the arc. She also had nine assists in the game.
The game started slow as both teams were unable to capitalize on their chances and turnovers plagued both sides.

The team's road trip will continue on Saturday, when the club visits Bellingham where they will take on the Western Washington.
