Coquitlam curlers off to a good start

They may have only been playing together for three months, but Coquitlam's Team Drexel is already getting some attention in the curling world.

They may have only been playing together for three months, but Coquitlam's Team Drexel is already getting some attention in the curling world.

The rink earned a berth at this weekend's BC Winter Games, when they overcame an early defeat to win a qualifying tournament in Chilliwack last month. Team Hanni defeated Drexel in the first match, however a victory over Skulgard and a win in a rematch against Hanni helped the Coquitlam squad take one of two spots at the Mission event this weekend. The second Winter Games berth went to Team Hawes of New Westminster.

It is the first time that Heather Drexel has skipped a team and the 14-year-old has had a lot of success with third Sarah Loken, second Janice Pang and lead Angelique Miller. The team is coached by Al Smith.
