Olympics-bound Coquitlam cyclist Jasmin Glaesser spun her way to a pair of medals Thursday at the 2012 UCI Track World Championships in Melbourne, Australia.

Glaesser, 19, won a silver medal in the women's 25-kilometre points race after earning a bronze medal in the women's team pursuit, along with Tara Whitten of Edmonton and Victoria's Gillian Carleton.

The Canadian trio edged the New Zealand squad in a photo finish for third spot, posting a time of 3:19.629 to the Kiwis' 3:19.847.

The three Canucks had qualified pe== for the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

"The points race was offered to me a couple of weeks ago and I really didn't get a chance to prepare," The Canadian Press quoted Glaesser, whose 28 points were second only to Russia's Anastasia Chulkova with 31 and ahead of third-place finisher Caroline Ryan of Ireland with 24. " I was tired but having been on the podium earlier, there was some adrenalin in my system and that definitely helped out."

The Canadian trio entered the event with the objective of fine tuning technical elements of the team pursuit, notably exchanges between riders.

"We were up against some tough competition but kept our focus entirely on producing the best ride that we could," Glaesser said. "Of course there is room for improvement, not just in placing, but in our execution and technique as well."
