Coquitlam Express forward Mirko Buttazzoni had a pair of assists in a 6-1 win over the Langley Rivermen Friday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

Drew Garzone had a goal and an assist, while Mirko Buttazzoni and Jason Gallucci each pitched in a pair of helpers to lead the Coquitlam Express to a 6-1 win over the Langley Rivermen Friday (Dec. 2) at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

The win moves the Express to within four points of second place Surrey Eagles in the BC Hockey League’s (BCHL) Coastal conference, after the Eagles lost 4-3 to Salmon Arm on Friday.

The Eagles have played two fewer games, however.

That gap could close to two points tonight as the Express host Surrey at the new Port Coquitlam Community Centre at 7 p.m.

Against the Rivermen, Coquitlam scored one goal in the first period, three in the second and added two more in the third.

Express goalie Adam Manji stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced in his first game since he was injured two weeks ago.

Tanner Attew was the only Langley shooter to beat him, 4:35 into the third period.
