Coquitlam Express goaltender Carter Woodside stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced in Monday's third game of the team's playoff series against the Chilliwack Chiefs, but it wasn't enough.

The Coquitlam Express surrendered a goal in each period but could only score one of its own in a 3-1 loss to the Chilliwack Chiefs Monday (April 4) in game three of their BC Hockey League playoff series.

The Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven affair two games to one.

As they had in Saturday’s (April 2) second game of the series, the Express gave up an early goal as Chilliwack’s Connor Milburn beat Carter Woodside just 1:53 after the puck had first been dropped at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex. But this time, there was no comeback for the home team.

Ethan Bowen doubled the Chiefs’ advantage in a tight-checking second period before Jayden Sison got one back for the Express 8:46 into the third period.

Bowen then sealed the win when he scored his second goal of the night into the empty net with 25 seconds left in the final frame.

Woodside stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced, while Chiefs’ goaltender Grant Riley made 21 saves.

Game four will be played Tuesday (April 5) at 7 p.m. at Poirier with the series’ fifth game scheduled for Thursday (April 7) in Chilliwack.
